Martini Cocktail Set
2010 (designed), 2011 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Miranda Watkins (d. 2020) designed Martini Cocktail Set for the lifestyle magazine Wallpaper and their exhibition ‘Wallpaper Handmade’, held in the Brioni House over three days during the Salon del Mobile trade fair, Milan, April, 2010. Watkins was a multidisciplinary designer who worked with a range of materials including pewter, a metal alloy made primarily of tin. For the cocktail set she worked with the Sheffield pewterers A.R. Wentworth who made the elegant forms by spinning flat discs of pewter on a lathe and polishing them to create the highly reflective surfaces.

Miranda Watkins designed contemporary objects for modern interiors, from intimate domestic settings to large scale public spaces, and ranged from kinetic mobiles, light installations, furniture, tabletop products and jewellery. Martini was Miranda Watkin's second successful collaboration with A.R. Wentworth, following on from the Gleam Pewter Collection of tableware, which won the Eureka Design Award in 2008.
