ca. 1450 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This panel would once have been part of a series that covered a room in a domestic or municipal setting, as well as helping insulate it from the cold and damp. The slender gothic tracery surrounding the arms indicates that this panel was carved at some time from about 1450. The fleur-de-lys had been the royal emblem of France from about 1180, but this panel is more likely to have come from a town hall or house of a loyal subject than the monarch himself.
