The landscape artist David Blackburn (b.1939) studied at Huddersfield School of Art, 1955-9, then at the Royal College of Art, 1959-62. He became a lecturer in 1966 at the University of Manchester, and was visiting lecturer at the University of Melbourne, 1969-77. He works primarily in the medium of pastel, and his landscapes of England, North America and Australia have abstract and visionary qualities.
