The most formal of men's daywear, morning dress is a familiar sight at weddings and at grand events such as Royal Garden Parties, the Trooping of the Colour and Royal Ascot. The distinctive, sloping fronts of the morning coat originated in riding coats of the late 18th century.(1997)
