Fine wool gaberdine dress, jacket and hat, printed cotton jersey T-shirt.
The single-breasted jacket is decorated with rosettes, each of which is cut as an integral part of a section of the garment. The long-sleeved dress (worn over a T-shirt) is fitted to the waist, then flares over the hips into a full skirt caught up at the back to accentuate the dipping hemline. The hem is slightly stiffened to support its gentle undulations.
This confident restyling of a traditional two-piece suit displays John Galliano's skill as a cutter, and the creative flair and panache which won him the title British Designer of the Year for 1987.
