This early 17th-century ornament print was designed by the goldsmith Etienne Carteron. The decorative motifs are in the Moresque style, with rolling decoration and long-necked birds pecking at a bowl of fruit. This style was developed in Europe in the 16th century as a variation on Islamic arabesque style.
