Queen Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace 1968 Beaton also took some photographs especially for the new Channel Islands stamps, to be released in 1969. The images on this contact sheet reveal that a simple profile portrait was attempted, in keeping with the centuries-old precedent for depicting rulers in profile on coins and medals. However, a more flattering three-quarter profile was eventually settled on. Gelatin silver contact sheet Ph.2009-1987 (2012)
