Object history
This object was formerly in the collection of Barbara Morris, and was bequeathed by her to the Museum. Morris, who had worked in the V&A's Circulation Department, was a pioneer in the study of Victorian and Edwardian Decorative Arts. She had a particular interest in ceramics and glass of the period, examples of which she collected avidly. The template-etched design of the figures on the goblet were based on the Elgin Marbles, from the Parthenon frieze.
