Object history | Highcliffe, near Muddiford in Hampshire, was the paternal home of the artist. After the death of her mother in 1867, she spent several months a year there, her husband having died in 1859 (see Augustus J. C. Hare, The Story of Two Noble Lives , 1893, III, p.284). |
