Object history | Chikoey in the title is likely a phonetic rendering of Çayköy, a village near Kaş in Türkiye, not far from Xanthus and Tlos, where Müller also painted. Çayköy means river village; Çay means stream or small river, and köy is a village. Müller has inscribed "or River Village" beneath the title. |
