This lino-block was probably cut by the designer, Diana Armfield, as a trial for the pattern repeat. The pattern was produced as a screen-printed wallpaper, 'High Summer', by John Line & Sons Ltd., in 1956. There are samples of two different colourways in the collection (E.449, 450-1999), and the pattern was also produced as a textile.
