Sketchbook containing landscape drawings in pen and ink and pencil depicting the Lincoln area, alongside numerous notes of colour techniques, evening effects, observations by the artist and instruction from the artist's teachers, perhaps by Richard Wilson. The sketches are largely in pencil but some are in pen and ink, depicting a waggon, trees, buildings etc. Three have specific titles and depict The Old Palace, Lincoln; The Roman Gateway at Lincoln; and Lord Monson's mansion near Lincoln. There are 63 leaves in total, but some have, at some point, been cut out.
