Audrey Penn had a long working life as a watercolorist, painting until her 94th year. Her work sold well, but she did not regard herself as a professional artist. As she did not normally exhibit her paintings, her career is not well documented. She put all her effort into representing the unspoilt English landscape, continuously trying to capture the effects of light in the tracks and glades in the forests.
