Plate, flattish, with large rim, from a mould. Tin-glazed overall. Painted in blue, green, yellow, golden and red lustre.
The scene is set indoors, in a bedroom, Aeneas, in armour, on the left, fleeing the scene, Creusa on her knees on the floor, to the right Anchises in bed, and the little Ascanius with a flame on his head. Above the scene a shield of arms per pale indented or and azure surmounted by a processional cross. Reverse, four lustred scrolls and in the footring painted the inscription: .1535./Anchise, Enea, Creusa/ e, Ascanio figlio./.F.X.

Painted tin-glazed earthenware with lustre decoration. Depicting Aeneas and Creusa. Painted by Francesco Xanto Avelli and lustred in Maestro Giorgio's workshop. Italy, Urbino and Gubbio, dated 1535.
