The painting of this beautiful dish bears close analogies with the style of the master who painted the tiles that once adorned the church of St. Francis in Deruta, near Perugia. These tiles feature profiles busts often painted in monochrome blue.
Recent archival discoveries have revelead the name of this maiolica painter: Nicola Francioli, known as Co, active in Deruta in the first part of the 16th century.
