The poster is one of a series of commemorative portraits of the White Russian military leaders. Its style is typical of the time of the Russian Civil War (1918-1921). It depicts the White Russian General-Lieutenant Baron Vrangel (1878-1928), who was a military commander of the Caucasian Army. After the victory of Bolsheviks, Vrangel fled to France where he became a leader of the emigré movement. He died in France in 1928.
