This ring was described as eighteenth-century Tyrolese, worn by peasants in the Grödener and Eisack area, when it was acquired by the Museum in 1872. The use of garnets and the floral decoration round the stones, are both typical of traditional jewellery from that region.

Brief description
Silver-gilt ring with pierced shank and set with three garnets, South Tyrol (Italy), 1800-1870.
Physical description
Silver gilt ring with a pierced scrolled shank which opens at the shoulders to support an oval bezel set with an oval facetted red stone in a closed mount. There are leaves over the space on the shoulders, each holding a small round red stone in a plain closed mount.
