Ring

1800-1870 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This ring was described as nineteenth-century south German when it was acquired by the Museum in 1873. This seems credible. The carved floral decoration on the shoulders is similar to that on traditional rings from the same area, but the use of white enamel and the square bezel with an imitation emerald are not traditional, and may indicate that it was made for fashionable wear.
