Object history
Note: P.58-1953 and P.59-1953 were both taken from an album of fourteen watercolours entitled 'Sketches of Ashurst in Surry [sic.] the seat of William Strahan Esqre by T. Allom 1842'. Some of the sketches in the book give a close-up view of the house itself, built in the Italian villa style in red brick with stone dressings, possibly designed by Allom himself.
