Place of origin |
This is one of a series of lightbox works by Wallis-Johnson based on maps of London. In this instance London is represented as an aerial view at night. The light shining through the holes that have been painstakingly pricked through the inky carbon paper produces an authentic shimmering effect. The number of pin pricks varies across the map, and is intended by the artist to relate to the density of population in the different areas.
