In Southern Rhodesia (renamed Zimbabwe after the first multi-racial elections in 1977), the government of Ian Smith clung to white minority rule despite international condemnation. The Zimbabwe African People's Union and the Zimbabwe African National Union formed a 'Patriotic Front' and waged a guerrilla war against Smith's government. The poster supports the politically radical solution to overthrow the white government - identifying the ideology of imperialism as the real enemy, rather than blaming particular people.
On the reverse of this poster is the trial proof of another propaganda poster printed by Tolmers Poster Cooperative, this time showing solidarity with workers on strike in Britain.
