Silk carpet with a dark blue ground with 3 offset and 2 half rows of vases of flowers filled with multi-coloured flower heads. There are 4 complete vases in each row, the central row of decorated vases are red as those at the sides, the other vases are blue. The field is completely filled with blossoming sprigs undulating from the lower to the upper end and on them sit inwardly facing yellow birds at the base of each vase.



Warp: white silk; Z3S; depressed; 40 threads to the inch (156 per dm).

Weft: blue cotton; Z3S; 2 shoots after each row of knots, with some variation; 18-19 knots per inch (74 per dm).

Pile: silk; 15 colours: red, orange, yellow, dark green, green, light green, dark blue, blue, light blue, purple, light purple faded to grey, dark pink, light pink, dark brown, white; asymmetrical knot open to the left and tied around 2 threads; 370 knots per sq. inch (5772 per sq. dm).

Side Finish: 1 cord over sewn with pink silk.

End Finish: both ends are cut but a silk fringe has been added to replace the worn one.

Main Border: dark pink ground with a blue cartouche, flower-filled, alternating with a yellow vase extending from border into border.

Inner and outer borders- each of three stripes:
(1) innermost: orange ground with floral meander
(2) purple ground with floral meander
(3) yellow ground with floral meander and S motifs.

Outer borders: same order but reversed colours.
