Carpet with a woollen pile and cotton.
WARP: white cotton; Z8S; 22-24 threads per inch (88 per dm).
WEFT: white cotton; Z-spun, unplied; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 12 knots per inch (50 per dm).
PILE: wool. 8 colours: dark red, orange, yellow, green, dark blue, blue, brown, white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 132-144 knots to the sq. inch (2220 per sq. dm).
SIDE FINISH: 1 cord oversewn with red wool.
END FINISH: Lower: incomplete but with 2 cms plain weave with orange woollen weft and with some red below the pile. Upper: 3 cms band of plain weave; 2 bands with red and 2 with orange weft.
DESIGN: Field with a dark blue ground with 16 bands of 12 or 11 1/2 botehs, each outlined in green and orange. The botehs face left or right in alternate rows.
MAIN BORDER: dark blue ground with alternating blossoms and pointed crosses.
INNER AND OUTER BORDERS: white ground with two rows of stylised birds, head to head.
