Costume design by Attilio Comelli for three costume proposal for Mrs Slevia in a unidentified play at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, possibly early 20th century, Drury Lane Design Collection.

Comelli (1858-1925) was the house designer of the Royal Opera House from the late 1880s to the early 1920s. During this period he also worked for the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and also designed costumes from a number of Gilbert&Sullivan productions.

This design comes from a collection of costume designs, some of which are costumier's copies, which were originally part of the Archives of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Physical description

Costume design by Attilio Comelli for three costume proposal for Mrs Slevia in a unidentified play at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The first female figure on the far left, numbered 21, is in black and grey outfit with details in red. The female in the centre numbered 22 in dark red and white dress. the one in the right, numbered 23, is in green outfit holding an umbrella. Drawn on millboard. Left edge damaged.
