Physical description

Studies (on 16 leaves from a sketchbook) of medieval ecclesiastical buildings including Thornton Abbey and churches at Milton, Fairford, Minster Lovell, Lechlade, perhaps Chipping Norton, Ely Cathedral, and a slight critical sketch of a secular building at King's College, Cambridge.

Object history note

Pugin noted in his diary for 1842 that he left London for Cambridge on 2 May. he went on to Ely the following day. He went to Thornton Abbey on 11 May and several churches in Oxfordshire on 31 may. the identification of Minster Lovell was made by Christopher Wilson.
