Object history
This waistcoat came as part of a set (I.S. 47 to F-1980) that included a skirt, shawl, hat, pair of boots and holy water bottle, as a gift from Major-General J.K. Shepheard.

Collected (i.e. bought) by the donor during a visit to Lhasa in 1939. The skirt has been adapted for European use from a conventional monks' lower garment.
