This album contains 49 linocut prints of rural scenes. These include village landscapes and figure studies of women.
Lalit Mohan Sen (1898-1954) was born in West Bengal. In 1912 he moved to Lucknow and in 1926 became a student at the Royal College of Art, London. In 1929 Sen was selected to decorate the Viceroy's House, (now Rashtrapati Bhavan) in New Delhi. Between 1931-32, he was appointed by the Indian Government to decorate the India House in London. The artist has worked in a variety of styles ranging from impressionistic to realistic pictorial languages.

| Production | The date of 1945 is written on each of the linocuts. However a note kept with the album suggests that the date may be when the album was constructed and not the date of each individual print. According to the vendor (John Teed), L. M. Sen was a student at the Royal College of Art (hence "a. r. c. a" on the title of the album) and during World War II was Director of the Lucknow School of Art, where the vendor studied with him. The Royal College records show that Lalit Mohan Sen attended from January 1925 to July 1926 and from September 1929 to July 1930. He was awarded the ARCA diploma in 1926. |
