Design for embroidery from a volume of designs by Lunardo Fero; Florence, 1559
Physical description
Leaf of two different designs laid out in a vertical format on cream-coloured laid paper with a watermark. Each design is in pen and brown ink. The left design is of three differnet types of large flowers painted in red and yellow-ochre with green leaves. The design on the right is like a panel of floral ornament with interlacing acanthus. The designs appears to repeat at the sides.

Marks and inscriptions
  • '8' (The figure '8' does not have a top. It is in the same brown ink as the designs.)
  • 'D G' (The watermark is near the binding.)

Attribution note: The design with a lateral repeat does not suggest a design for embroidery but rather for woven silk.
