Design for embroidery from a volume of designs by Lunardo Fero
Physical description
The volume has to be turned on its side so that the designs can be seen in the right direction. Leaf of three different, designs laid out in a horizontal format at regular intervals on cream-coloured laid paper without a watermark. Each design is one, wide line of decoration in pen and brown ink including respectively in order: interlacing lines arranged into knots and loops, with their internal spaces filled in with yellow-ochre with more circular knots at the right end of the line, filled in with green or yellow-ochre; a double undulating stem of acanthus forming central lozenge-shaped reserves filled in with green and 'S'-shaped loops filled in with yellow-ochre; scrolling acanthus with internal spaces filled in with yellow-ochre.
