Mirror

1800-1850 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Small octagonal mirror set in an ebony frame decorated with eight gold, pearl and enamel mounts, one in the centre of each side. The mounts are each wrapped round the edge of the frame and secured by a wire which runs through the frame to connect both sides of the mount at its base. The mounts in the centre of each long side are star shaped, and those on the shorter diagonal sides are simpler. Each mount is decorated with white enamel with black dots, with a blue petal at each end and a pearl in the centre. The mount in the centre of the top edge has a loop for suspension, instead of a pearl, with a loose ring threaded through it.
