Holograms were highly popular with children in the 1980s, becoming something of a fad, with holographic pictures, wrapping paper, sunglasses and all sorts of other items sold through the medium of holography.

These holographic stickers feature representations of the pop singer Michael Jackson. Jackson's album Thriller had just become the best selling album in the world, going on to sell over 110 million copies to date. Michael Jackson-related merchandise sold through the roof, and all sorts of products bearing his image were created, including dolls, stationery and these stickers.
