Bronwen Sleigh was the winner of the V&A Prize at the Northern Print Biennale in 2009. She is a graduate of the Printmaking Dept at the Royal College of Art. Her prints (which are often based on her own architectural models of urban spaces) explore the relationship between the natural environment and urban/industrial architecture. Her use of colour is both subtle and unexpected in the context. Sleigh is a gifted and innovative printmaker working inventively with traditional media particularly lithography (as here) and etching (see E.519-2009), but introducing painterly qualities in the use of colour and the character of the mark-making.
