An established cartoonist and illustrator, Jamie Hewlett is best known for his comic Tank Girl, and for his work with the band Gorillaz. This print exemplifies his visual style, combining humour with a political, anti-war message. Although the reference point is the Vietnam War, it can also be understood in the light of recent world events.

Physical description

A print showing a cartoon showing, against a backdrop of slhouetted helicopters and black billowing smoke, a very young American soldier sitting on the floor, wearing full army kit and kit bag, with a cigarette in his mouth and resting his machine gun upright in front of him, and a Vietnamese person coming out from a grass trapdoor in the ground waving a large 'stars and stripes' spongefinger. Most of the image is in black, white and grey, except that spongfinger is in red, white and blue.
