A coloured engraving showing the costume worn by the soprano Mme. Rigaud in the role of Mlle De Wedel in La Neige ou le Nouvel Eginard, an Opéra Comique at the Théâtre d'Opéra Comique.
Antoniette Eugénie Rigaud (also listed as Rigaut) was a leading performer at the Théâtre de l'Opéra Comique in the 1820s.
Below the image is a quote from the play:
"Oh! c'est charmante! c'est moi qui donne au Prince de Neubourg des leçons de galanterie: c'est mon élève."
La Neige ou le Nouvel Eginard by Eugène Scribe and Germain Delavigne was an 'opéra comique' in four acts, first performed at the Théâtre de l'Opéra-Comique on 9th October 1823.
This design appears to be part of a series of prints published by Martinet, Rue du Coq and is labelled No. 533. It is part of the Harry Beard Collection.
