Object history
One of a pair with 741-1869.

Historical significance: This pair of vases was bought direct from Collinot, who exhibited them in the international exhibition in Paris, 1867. Collinot made ceramics in 'Persian' and other 'oriental' styles In 1859, with Adalbert de Beaumont, he had published a volume of designs taken from Far Eastern, Venetian and Islamic sources. These vases show him using Japanese and Chinese motifs, both highly fashionable design sources in the 1860s.
