Playbill advertising 'The Celebrated Theatrical Child Edmund Carey' at the Great Room, no.8 Store Street, London, on 17th March 1801.
The text reads: The Celebrated Theatrical Child, EDMUND CAREY, not ELEVEN YEARS OLD, will for ONE NIGHT ONLY, for the Benefit of his MOTHER, at the Great Room, no. 8, Store Street, Bedford Square. On Tuesday March 17th, 1801. Will give his inimitable performances, which have been received by the Nobility and Gentry, with uncommon approbation. Talents so rare in so Juvenile a frame, was scarcely seen before.
Part I, to open with an address, Pizarro, and Blue Beard, Part, II. King Richard IIId. and Naval Pillar, [Hamlet] Song by a Lady, Part III. Speed the Plough and Feudal Times, Admittance One Shilling, Doors to be Opened at Seven, and to begin at half past Seven Precisely. Tickets to be had at No. 8, Store Street Bedford Square.
Edmund Carey grew up to become the famous 19th century actor Edmund Kean (1787-1833). His performance at Store Street was so successful that he made a 'Second and Last' appearance there on 24th March 1801.
