Gallery label
‘Selling Dreams: One Hundred Years of Fashion Photography’, 2014. Label text: Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) (b.1968) Fashion study, Amsterdam 2005 Since 1995, Schuman has been sharing photographs of stylishly-dressed strangers through his internet blog, The Sartorialist. Schuman’s street portraits are reminiscent of Steve Johnson’s ‘straight up’ portraits of punks and New Wave youth, first seen in i-D in the 1980s. Fellow bloggers Garance Doré and Yvan Rodic (Facehunter) produce work in the same vein. HP pigment print Given by Scott Schuman and James Danziger Museum no. E.482-2010 (07 03 2014)
