This Union Jack top hat was named Anna P. after Anna Piaggi, one of milliner Stephen Jones's most well known clients. An Italian fashion editor, Piaggi is fond of wearing the British flag in various forms.

The Union Jack has been a recurring theme in Jones's work. The hat was the central motif for the V&A exhibition 'Hats An Anthology by Stephen Jones' (Feb-May 2009) and was illustrated by Lawrence mynott for the cover of the accompanying catalogue. The exhibition also featured a film of Deborah Miller (then head of Stephen Jones workroom) making an Anna P. hat.
