Sheet Music
ca. mid to late nineteenth century (published)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Outer cover of the sheet music for Trafalgar (It was a Glorious Victory!) written by William Lewis and composed by H.W. May. It was published by Francis, Day & Hunter.

The front sheet features a single central illustration. This shows a gentleman in a jacket, white shirt bow-tie and waistcoat. He has a peaked cap (resembling that worn as part of the Naval Uniform) and a carefully groomed moustache. It seems to be an image of the singer, of the song, Albert Rivers.

The back sheet is printed with a list of Francis, Day & Hunter's 'Newest Comic Songs', its inner cover is printed with the lyrics for the song.

The song celebrates Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21st October 1805.
