Simon Carroll (1964–2009) ‘Tall Thrown Pot’ 2004 Bold, expressionistic markings characterise this pot by Simon Carroll, both in its surface decoration and in the handling of the clay itself. Drawing on early slipware and earthenware traditions, Carroll exaggerated the marks typically left by the potter’s hands in a celebration of the physicality of making. Made in Shucknall, Herefordshire Earthenware, thrown and press-moulded, with slip decoration and honey glaze Museum no. C.26-2005(2009)
