A simple line caricature of the choreographer and dancer Michael Fokine. It was drawn by the costume and set designer Guy Sheppard and is dated 1938.
Fokine spent the early years of his career working with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes but worked independently from 1914 onwards. In 1938/9 he accompanied the Covent Garden Ballets Russes on their tour of Australia and New Zealand where many of Fokine's works were restaged alongside Australian premieres of Cendrillon, Le Coq d'or and Papillonsunder his personal supervision.
