December 1964 (hand written)
Artist/Maker

This letter was written from the artist Jean Hugo to the photographer and costume designer Cecil Beaton. It accompanied a bright gouache sketch showing a scene from the 1942 production of Phèdre at the Comédie Francaise which was once part of the private collection of Frosca (the nickname of Madame Euphrasis Munster who had a close relationship with the artist). The letter explains that the artist is giving the sketch to Beaton as he knows that Fosca was very fond of him and would be pleased to know it is being given to Beaton.
