A note on the back of the sketch indicates that it is part of a pair of sketches which were initially part of a sale that took place in Paris in 1882.

A note on the back of the sketch indicates that it is part of a pair of sketches which were initially part of a sale that took place in Paris in 1882. A further label indicates that it was subsequently purchased by M.J.Ruthen at the sale of the art collection of the late R.Glynn Vivian in 1914.
