Experimental Form

1990-1999 (designed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Models, prototypes and three-dimensional experiments play important roles in the design process for many designers. During the 1990s Matthew Hilton made many experimental forms, some of which do not have immediately obvious functions. They have in common organic, sometimes bone-, claw- or shell-like shapes. Some of the experiments were intended for table-ware, often developed as metal products by the London-based manufacturer SCP.
