Scale models can play an important part in the design process because they can be produced much more easily than full-sized prototypes. Matthew Hilton designed the Orwell Sofa for SCP in 1996. He made this fibreglass mould for a 1:5 scale model of the sofa, to show its shape and proportions.

Measurements taken 1/7/2010 by Jana Scholze and Lucy Wood: Top mould (inside form): H. 17 x W.51.7 x D. c. 28 cm (height measured at same angle as when supported in bottom mould); Bottom mould (outside form) H. 17.2 x W. 52 x D. c. 25 cm
