'Lady Templetown' teapot

This is the mould for the body of Wedgwood's 'Lady Templetown' teapot. The teapot’s body is formed by ‘jolleying’. Clay is forced by hand into this spinning plaster mould, and then hollowed out and shaped inside using a profiling tool.

The teapot is named after Elizabeth, Lady Templetown (1747–1823), a gifted amateur artist who designed relief decoration for Josiah Wedgwood in the 1780s. It was reissued in 2009 to celebrate the firm’s 250th anniversary.
