This poster was produced in Curaçao, an island which forms part of the Dutch Antilles in the Caribbean. In 1940, German Nazi forces occupied the Netherlands, a neutral territory, after a devasting aerial raid on Rotterdam. The country was not only ravaged and scarred by its German occupiers, but also by Allied counter-attacks and Dutch attempts at self-defence. This poster makes an appeal from the colonies to help the Prince Bernhard Committee in its attempts to "erase the stain" of Nazi presence.
