This kind of wallpaper, with pictorial motifs appropriate to the room in which the paper was to be hung, was popular in the 1960s and 1970s, especially for kitchens and bathrooms. Such wallpapers were often vinyl-coated, as this paper is, to make them waterproof and therefore washable.
