Study for 'The Enchanted Stream'; Maidens bathing. The two principal figures are on each side of the bank; the one on the right with her feet in the water, and the other on the opposite bank with drapery over her knees; There is also a study for Europa at the bottom; Slightly executed in pencil.
This subject was designed for the poem 'Ode Upon Solitude' by Wenworth Dillon, 4th Earl of Roscommon. It was engraved by Charles Heath in 1827; The first idea differing from the print, and the subject reversed.
