This White Army propaganda poster commemorates the first elected Ataman of Don Army Alexei Kaledin, who died on the 29th of January, 1918. The crown of thorns depicted as a part of the portrait's frame indicates that he was considered a "martyr" who died fighting the bolshevik forces.
